- Bilingual person: Is a person who is able to use two languages to communicate, or for another different purposes, in different situations, with different people. Grosjean 2010.
- Bilingual Education: Is an education program were two languages are used as means of instruction.
- Bilingual Books: Are books made in two languages, helps you improve biliteracy in both of the languages and helps kids in the process of learning a second language.
- Second Language Learning: Is the process of learning another language different from your mother tongue. It could be in a monolingual environment or bilingual.
- English as a foreign Language: It is the language that is not spoken in the country where the person is, for example in Colombia English is seen as a foreign language.
- Culturally relevant books: These are books that present the habits, behaviours, attitudes, the way life is perceived by a community of people. Culturally relevant books allow students relate with the reading in a deep way.
- Mother tongue: Is the language or the languages that a person have learnt from his house, the first language with whom they relate to.
- Spanish as a foreign Language: It is the language that is not spoken in the country where the person is, for example in France Spanish is seen as a foreign language.
- Reading processes: It is a process of obtaining information and meaning by looking at written words or symbols.
- Translation: Is a literacy process that promotes biliteracy. Is a process that allows you to change from one language to another in order to understand the meaning of a conversation, a text, etc.
